CommentsProcess Blog: Construction Documents
The fourth, and second to last, step of design is the Construction Documents phase. This is the last step before construction. Once permit is received, then the next phase will start and the CD phase will be considered over. Read More...
CommentsProcess Blog: Design Development
After the Schematic Design’s approval, Venture will begin to develop the technical architectural documents. These will include floor plans, building sections and elevations, as well as some black and white renderings. The goal of this phase is to identify the technical direction of the project and to resolve the main technical issues posed by the design. This phase will also include basic and preliminary interior design details to be coordinated either through a separate interior design phase agreement with Venture Architecture or with an additional consultant or consultants. CommentsProcess Blog: Schematic Design
Schematic Design, the next step in our Process Blog, is critical in establishing the final design of the project. At the beginning of this phase, we will assess the information collected during Pre-Design, in an effort to reflect and bring to life the relevant company philosophies, and incorporate these characteristics into a more formal design. We may find informational gaps that may have been missed during pre-design, which will involve further conversations with you, the client. Read More...
CommentsProcess Blog: Pre-Design
This post, the third in our ongoing “Process” series, focuses on pre-design. This phase is all about gathering information. We want to learn more about our client. What do you do? Why did you hire us? What is your existing living/working space like? Before any design work can begin, the design team will first assess the whole project. By the end of this phase you can expect the following: Read More...
CommentsProcess Blog: The Five Phases of Design
Here at Venture, we believe there are five phases of the design process and the descriptions below will help to define them. Over the next few weeks we will update the "Process Blog" and you can expect us to further expand on each phase of our design process. While each phase is unique, there tends to be a lot of overlap between them. When you hire Venture Architecture, you can expect to spend time in each phase, but be aware that we may have to revisit the schematic design or pre-design phases if a large change occurs or is required. Nevertheless, the following descriptions will help define Venture's overall process. Read More...
CommentsProcess Blog: An Introduction
Are you interested in hiring an architect, but are unsure of how the process works? Or, are you just interested in what an architect does? Over the next few weeks we will be doing a series of blog entries that will help describe what we do here at Venture Architecture, and what specific steps our design process follows. From the first phases of design, through various different contracts, submittals and finally construction, the architectural process will be a whirlwind of activity filled with tough decisions, stress and ultimately, extreme satisfaction. Think that you don't need an architect? Well these blog entries will convince you otherwise. The process of design, acquiring permits, building within local building and zoning codes plus much, much more can quickly become overwhelming. These blog posts will ease your mind while hopefully convincing you that our expertise is well worth it. Read More...
CommentsVenuture's Hold Music
We here at Venture Architecture love taking phone calls, but sometimes we are just too busy to answer right away. If that is the case, you may have been put on hold. Instead of playing generic elevator music, we chose to play an interesting piece that may sound familiar. In fact, it is an old Apple commercial that originally aired in 1997. It was Apple's first ad with the "Think Different" slogan. The message of the ad is powerful and one that Venture Architecture takes seriously and one we emulate. You can watch the entire commercial below... Read More...
